Protective Packaging of Photographs for Shipping
To ensure that photographs arrive in perfect condition, great emphasis is placed on multi-layer protective packaging. This is especially important for prints on rigid or special materials (e.g. aluminum, acrylic, forex, panels, etc.), which are prone to scratches or dents.
1. Protective Film on the Surface of the Photograph
Each photograph is first covered with a transparent protective film that:
- protects the printed surface from scratches,
- prevents fingerprints,
- reduces the risk of abrasion during handling and transport.
This film is easy to remove and serves purely as transport protection – it does not affect the final appearance of the photograph in any way.
2. Intermediate Layers for Shock Absorption
After applying the protective film, the photograph is supplemented with additional protective layers:
- soft protective sheets (e.g. smooth paper or thin film),
- optionally fixing inserts that prevent the photograph from shifting inside the packaging.
These layers help distribute pressure and protect the corners and edges.
3. Rigid Cardboard Protection
The entire set is then placed between strong cardboard sheets or into a shaped cardboard package. This:
- ensures the rigidity of the parcel,
- protects the photograph from bending,
- keeps the print stable during courier transport.
For larger formats or heavier materials, reinforced cardboard or multiple layers of cardboard are used.
4. Final Shipping Packaging
The final package is sealed to:
- prevent movement of the contents,
- protect against moisture,
- meet safety standards for transport.
All shipments are insured with the carrier.
